ATHENA AND I TALKED a bit more before we both decided that it would be best if I stayed back on Earth until the next morning. The last thing we wanted was to cause a stir in the Four Realms and on Earth at the same time. So Athena left to go tell the news of Versius' attack to King Arion while I decided to try and fix the problem I'd caused.

Alone in the pasture again, I called Ash to ask if she could come back and pick me up. However, she wasn't the one who answered the phone.

"Hello," I muttered into the receiver, knowing that there was no way my life could get any worse than it already was.

"Hello," a frantic voice replied. "Is this Loreali?"

Instantly I realized it was Ash's mom, which meant my crappy night was just about to get even worse. "Yes ma'am," I answered while I slid down into the passenger seat of James' car.

Placing my phone down into my lap, I texted her the same coordinates I'd sent Ash nearly an hour ago. When I lifted the phone back up to my ear, I realized she had already hung up.

Throwing my head back again, I closed my eyes until I heard the sound of sirens blaring behind me. A slow, intentional breath escaped my lips when I heard the sound of doors swinging open, boots scraping against the dirt, and two voices demanding that I raise my hands up over my head. Doing as I was told, I slipped out of the passenger side of James' car and fell to the ground while they moved in around me.

In any other circumstance, I would've been furious knowing that they were treating me, an ordinary girl who couldn't think of harming anyone, let alone the boy of my dreams, like a criminal. However, under these circumstances I didn't care. I just wanted to bring James back, and I didn't care what it cost.

One officer told me I was under arrest for aggravated assault while another pulled me into the backseat of his cruiser. By the time I arrived at the police station, my parents were already there along with a
